Last Call for Applications to the Source Protection Committee

Monday, Sep. 17, 2007

Windsor/Essex Region - At the first meeting of the Essex Region Source Protection Authority, the composition of the Source Protection Committee was confirmed. This committee, which will be comprised of fifteen members plus the Chair, will oversee the preparation of a technical Assessment Report, Source Protection Plan and related public and stakeholder consultations. Tom Fuerth, former Councillor for the Towns of Sandwich South and Tecumseh, was recently named Chair by Minister of the Environment Laurel Broten.

"The committee will be comprised of representatives from sectors that encompass the broad, multi-sectoral interests of our region," explains Fuerth. "By regulation, five of the members will be appointed by municipalities. Applications are currently being accepted for representatives of the other two major sectors: the Economic and Other Interests sectors, which will each be assigned five seats." He goes on to note that candidates will be considered based on which sub-sectors impact on and are impacted by our sources of drinking water.

A full job description and member qualifications can be found on the ERCA website. To be considered, candidates must describe their interest in writing accompanied by their resume by 4:00 pm on Friday, September 28, 2007. Expression of Interest forms can be obtained from our website at under the Protecting Our Water link, or a hard copy can be obtained by contacting us directly.
