Drinking Water Source Protection Committee Releases Draft Proposed Terms of Reference

The Essex Region Source Protection Committee (SPC) has prepared a draft proposed Terms of Reference for the Essex Region Source Protection Plan process over the next few years. The public is invited to learn more about this plan and submit their feedback and comments.

"The Terms of Reference will guide the creation of local, science-based plans to protect the sources of our drinking water," explained Tom Fuerth, SPC Chair. "It outlines roles, responsibilities, timelines, costs and other aspects of what will done to develop the Source protection Plan over the next few years."

The draft proposed Terms of Reference may be reviewed online at or at the office of the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA). The public is invited to review the document and provide comments through attendance at a Public Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Essex County Civic & Education Centre, Room C, 360 Fairview Avenue West, Essex.

The format of the Public Meeting will be an Open House from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and an opportunity for interested persons to make presentations to the SPC between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Each delegation will have a maximum of five minutes to present, and they must register by 4pm Friday, June 13.
